MINNETONKA, Minn. - Rugby Athletic is partnering with Metropolis RFC to launch a Youth Rugby Academy, which will kick off on March 11 at the Irish Sports Dome in Rosemount, MN.
This inaugural camp is designed for both experienced rugby players as well as kids experiencing the sport for the first time and will be open to both boys and girls in middle school and high school (grades 6-12).
The academy will be managed by Metropolis’ new Academy Technical Directors and USA Rugby 7's Olympians Garrett Bender and Katie Johnson.
“Rugby Athletic is extremely excited and proud to be partnering with Metropolis in an effort to promote the sport of rugby to more Minnesota youth,” Rugby Athletic’s Chris Babiash said. “We have seen such an interest in rugby in this area and we can’t wait to have Metropolis involved in a program like this. Their club, its leadership, and, of course, Bender and Johnson, will make this an incredible opportunity for young players to get involved and fall in love with the sport of rugby.”
Saturday’s camp will start promptly at 7 a.m. and will run until 10 a.m., with check in at 6:30 a.m. Cost is $35 per athlete, and registration to this camp will give participants a free pass to the next outdoor session. To sign up now or for more information, pre-register here.
